Migration of the portal from Liferay DXP 7.1 to 7.4, rebuilding the catalogue on Objects and web content. The full range (sedans, SUVs, electric and AMG) moved to a shared data model instead of hand-maintained pages.

Autostar represents Mercedes-Benz in Costa Rica. Its portal ran on Liferay DXP 7.1 and had to move to 7.4, two major versions apart.

A migration like that isn't a matter of pressing a button. Between 7.1 and 7.4 the page model changes, the way templates are built changes and, above all, capabilities appear that didn't exist before. Whether to take advantage of them is the decision that separates a migration from a simple move.

Here they were taken advantage of. The catalogue, which in the old version was a set of hand-maintained pages, moved to a data model on Objects. The full range (sedans, SUVs, the electric EQ line and AMG) now shares a structure and feeds from the same source, so a new model page is a new record, not a new page.

The rest of the portal follows: after-sales, warranty, parts, premium services and the brand's editorial sections. The site ended up on a supported version and on an architecture that can grow.
