Autostar Used Cars

Complete used-vehicle site built on Objects: the stock, its attributes and the valuation and purchase forms live in the portal's data model, not in static content, so the inventory is maintained without touching code.

The used-vehicle business has a peculiarity that shapes the whole technical design: the inventory changes daily and every unit is unique. No two cars are alike; each has its mileage, its year, its equipment and its price.

Modelling that as static content would be unworkable. That's why the site was built entirely on Objects: the stock is a data model with its attributes, and the catalogue, the search and the vehicle pages feed from it. Adding a vehicle means creating a record, and it disappears from the site when it's sold.

The site's two forms are the two sides of the business. One is the valuation request, for people who want to sell their car to the brand. The other is the purchase form, for people who want to take one from the stock. Both also live on Objects, so the requests are recorded in the portal and don't get lost in an email.

It's a site small in number of pages and large in data model, which is exactly the opposite of an institutional site.
