ChatGPT Booster
A Chrome extension that keeps long ChatGPT conversations fast
Long ChatGPT conversations (600+ messages) generate more than 46,000 DOM nodes, causing lag, browser freezes and excessive memory use. ChatGPT Booster solves this with a virtual scrolling system that trims the nodes down to around 3,000 while keeping the experience smooth.
The extension uses a CSS-first strategy that survives React re-renders: it injects visibility rules through a dynamic <style> tag instead of manipulating DOM classes. Only the last 15 messages (configurable) are shown by default, and scrolling up loads more via IntersectionObserver. Every conversation switch forces a full reload to free the memory accumulated by ChatGPT's SPA.
The extension is published on the Chrome Web Store with a freemium model: a 7-day free trial and a lifetime licence at USD 5.99 via Freemius. It supports English and Spanish, collects no personal data, and the source code is available on GitHub.
